I think I need a little more simple in my life. I realize I've been away from this little blog for almost a month - something rather unusual for me. But I have to tell you that my job is anything but simple right now. In fact it's complex...draining...overwhelming.
I think that's why I've been away. By the time the day's over there's not a lot of creativity left, not to mention energy, words or inspiration. I'm just tired.
But the thing about working for a church is that even when it's demanding, and anything but simple, it's good. It's worth everything. And that's something worth fighting for.
So right now, I may not have a pretty post about a freshly decorated room, or the latest and greatest decor idea that everyone will want to pin...but I do have simple. Good 'ole fashion chocolate chip cookies will do wonders for the soul on even the most trying of days.
So if you're walking through something intense, something scary or sad or draining, my advice to you is get back to the basics. Take a deep breath...let it all go...whip up a batch of cookies...and embrace the simple.
{live beautifully}

Simple is good. So are Toll House chocolate chip cookies. With milk.
ReplyDeleteI feel like you took this post right out of my mother's head! Her mantra (for as long as I can remember) is "everything is better with chocolate chip cookies". :) She (thankfully) instilled that in my sister and I. ;)
ReplyDeleteGinny, I actually thought about your mom when I was baking! I always here what a great cookie baker she is, and for my wedding she gave me a cookie book, spatula and pan. I used the spatula for these and thought of her : )
DeleteWell put! I totally agree with you... I may have to make cookies later. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteOh, your cookies look yummy! Would you share where you got your gorgeous measuring cups from?
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer! The measuring cups are from World Market! I think they have matching measuring spoons too..cute!
DeleteThanks so much Courtney! I will ask my friend in the US to ship me a set, they are just gorgeous and would look beautiful in my new kitchen. I'm in Australia, so no World Market for me unfortunately :(
