It's finally Friday! And no I won't sing that obnoxious song for you : ) Today Matt and I are having date night downtown at a favorite restaurant and then hitting some bars, galleries and eateries for a local music crawl. I can't wait!
So I finally broke down and registered for china...sort of. From the beginning of our registering (I couldn't help myself and registered in October for our June wedding : ) I wasn't too into getting "formal" china. It's beautiful, but I wanted something that we could use every day.
And it had to be white.
Not off-white.
Dishwasher safe.
Not too frilly.
Not too basic.
Have a little personality.
And some vintage charm.
Without the foo foo.
And be reasonably priced.
Suffice it to say, it took me til now to discover something I was actually interested in.
Enter, French Countryside Dinnerware by Mikasa (via Bed Bath and Beyond).
Lovely, no? This meets all my requirements and more! I just love it!
Covered sugar dish
The only thing that bugs me with Bed Bath and Beyond is you can't buy their "fine dinnerware" in the store, you have to order it. That's no problem for a web-savvy 23-year-old like me, but what about the ladies who are more of a...shall we say... wedding china buying age, who will be attending our wedding? I hope that doesn't make a difference.
Either way, I think I'm in love! And have finally found "the great white dish" : )
There was a second reason I didn't want to buy true china...I already have lots and lots of it coming my way, more beautiful than anything made today.

This is my mother's antique bone china, handed down to her by her great aunt, who was quite wealthy. It's stunning. And there's TONS of it!

There's just something about white dishes. Timelessly elegant, don't you think?
Have a great weekend! My first shower is on Saturday! Hooray!

You've picked the same dishes as Julie - - - and I think Shawna! Julie still likes hers. Bobbie and I both have Italian Countryside and Heather has English. We are all white dish people! And yes, your Mama's china is beautiful. KG
