About Me

Hi, I'm Courtney! I'm a wife, blogger, antiques dealer, church communications professional and vintage decor addict. I started this blog in 2010 out of a passion for decorating, which started when I was a little girl. I simply cannot get enough "pretty" in my life, especially in the world of vintage and neutral home decor. A friend once told me, long before the blog or shop, "you make things beautiful." That was one of the highest compliments of my life. I feel uniquely gifted by God to create beauty in my surroundings. I believe it's a reflection of him when I can provide others with beautiful inspiration, vintage finds, photos, surroundings and more.

By day I work as the Director of Communications for a local church, handling design, social media, marketing, etc. I love my job, I love marketing, I love the local church...but creating beauty is really where my heart lies.

So on nights and weekends, when I can tear myself away from my amazing husband, I blog, pin and read other blogs, just to soak in the beauty. I also run A Prairie Market, my vintage decor business .

It's still amazing to me that I can live out my passion for beauty through selling vintage home decor. The thrill of the hunt is always alluring to me. I frequent flea markets, thrift stores, estate sales, antique stores, junk shops and more just to see what I can find. Unlike many bloggers today, I do not often redo my finds. I'm not much of a painter or repurposed, to be honest. I like old things that add character to modern living. Old scales in the kitchen, collections of white ironstone, antique tea towels hanging on the stove, sturdy old furniture wearing its original chippy paint ... those are things that make my soul soar.

Photographing my home and products is especially fun for me. Photography has become a new hobby, and while I still have a lot to learn, it brings me so much joy to unearth vintage treasures and then display them in a new light with just the right styling and photography.

The vintage boutique I am a part of, The Cottage Collective, is an amazing grouping of women who are passionate about handmade and vintage decor, jewelry, paper goods, textiles and more. The story of how the shop came together is an incredible thing, which you can read about here and here. We've heard many times from people that The Cottage "makes Pinterest come to life" and we are honored to provide Wichita with vintage and handmade beauty to grace local homes and families. It's such a blessing to be a part of that store!

As far as this little blog goes, you'll see mostly photos of my own home here. We just bought our first house and we're working to make it perfectly "us." Click here to take a tour of our house. You can also see our former home, our first little apartment, here.

I'd describe my style as "clean cottage." I love the vintage aesthetic but with a very clean edge. Nothing to floofy or contrived. Just honest, simple living with a pared-back, farmhouse/cottage vibe.

I truly hope this blog inspires you to live beautifully each day. I've found even the simplest of things can add beauty to life, and I hope this is a place that encourages and inspires you to seek the beauty in every moment. Thanks for dropping by!
