Summer Peach Picking

I love having our children photographed at sweet ages, and since Evan just had his first birthday it was the perfect time to capture both his one year portraits and our family photos. I had my heart set on a beautiful shoot picking fresh summer peaches, so we headed to one of our favorite local farms (Meadowlark Farm in Rose Hill for those who are local) and had so much fun picking and posing.

I keep thinking what a sweet season of life we're in. Yes, often a bit demanding and tiring, but really sweet. Our kids are at the most precious ages. Lexie is smart as can be, sings and dances constantly and makes us laugh with all the funny and creative things she says. Evan melts my heart every moment - he's just absolutely adorable. I can hardly stop kissing his sweet face. He's snuggly and giggly and curious. These really are the good old days.

Our friend Katie of KT Photography did such a phenomenal job capturing these moments. We'll treasure these images for years to come.

By the end of the shoot he was covered in peach juice from taste testing our harvest.

My favorite season is summer, and I'm so happy to have these photos that perfectly capture that feeling of a summer evening well spent, picking peaches and making memories.

Revisiting the Powder Room

This little powder room I redid a few years ago for the One Room Challenge is still one of my favorite spaces in our house. It has tall ceilings, and is just spacious enough it doesn't feel cramped for a little hall bath. The wallpaper really brings it to life. But you know I can never leave anything alone for too long!

I swapped out a few accessories and it really refreshed the space. I found everything at Walmart and loved that I didn't have to spend a lot to liven things up. Thank you to Walmart for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own.

My favorite thing by far is this $11 turkish towel. It's more of a full-size towel but is thin enough that you can fold it up and it still works as a hand towel. I got the black color but also love the gray, and you really can't beat the price!

I also really loved this little geometric counter tray and canister. I use the canister to keep fresh flowers and greens in here, but in a more fully functioning bathroom it would be great for cotton balls, etc.

Can we just talk about this rug? I'm amazed at how much it looks and feels like a vintage one. The colors are soft and beautiful and it's a true flat weave that feels so much like my vintage ones. And it's only $22! Amazing!

I also picked up this cute little set of canisters. I loved the abstract patterns and the leather pulls.

Of course there's nothing I love more than shelf styling, so having this extra set of shelves in here is a fun way for me to switch things up. This geometric jar and the white wash textured vase were two things I changed out, and I know I'll use them all around the house.

I had so much fun refreshing this space! Walmart is quickly becoming my go-to for affordable decor. They carry so many different styles like vintage, modern and everything in between. You guys know I love sharing where to find affordable home decor so I'm happy to know they have so much available!

California Spa Inspired Bedroom Refresh (Three Tips for Making Your Bedroom Feel Like a Spa)

If there's one mantra I've always believed, it's that you can have a beautiful home on a budget. Sometimes I think it feels like a Pinterest-worthy home is out of reach, but that's just not true. Through all my years of blogging, I've really tried to show that you can achieve a gorgeous home without breaking the bank.

One place I've really enjoyed shopping for affordable home finds lately is Walmart.com. They have seriously stylish finds that fit a real-life budget. That's why I'm thrilled to be partnering with them on this post. As always all opinions are my own.

From the beginning, our master bedroom has been our peaceful oasis. I love that the base is all whites and neutrals, so I can easily switch out accessories to change the feel of the room. I recently went on a girls weekend trip to a gorgeous hotel and spa, and was so inspired to get that feeling at home. And I was thrilled to be able to find everything I needed from Walmart. You can even shop by style to make things easier.

This cozy blanket was perfect to add some texture to our all-white bedding. I paired it with these gorgeous white feather-filled pillows (only $12 each!) and this elegant blue velvet tassel pillow to bring in some spa blues.

I was recently thinking back to our trip to Laguna Beach a few years ago, and wanted to capture that feeling as well - sort of California Coastal Spa vibe. So I added this gorgeous olive topiary to bring in that west coast feeling. It's one of my new favorite pieces in our home!

I also added in more spa blues and some coastal texture with this blue dip vase and this white wash wood frame.

Since our room is mostly white, it looks best when it's layered with lots of textures. I was so happy to find this cream textured runner to unite the space between the bed and dresser. The metal garden stool really brings it all together and is my favorite place to set my morning coffee while I get dressed. And did I mention that geometric pillow is under $10?!

If you want that spa feeling at home, here are my top three tips for creating a relaxing space

Three Tips for a Spa-Inspired Bedroom

1. Rely on breezy whites and neutrals to lighten the space and make it feel fresh. Start with white bedding and layer from there.

2. Add a delicious smelling candle to keep you relaxed (eucalyptus, mint, rosemary and cucumber are a few scents that always remind me of the spa). I have one right on my nightstand corralled on a marble tray.

3. Add in spa-inspired colors and textures, like blues, aquas and weathered wood, as well as natural greenery like olive and eucalyptus.

I think this room will keep me reliving girls weekend at the spa for quite some time!
