Happy New Year's Eve friends! I hope your holidays have been beautiful and relaxing. I have been a bit MIA around here, with a busy season at work plus enjoying Christmastime with our family. But it has been a full year here at 12th and White and you all have been so amazing for following along as we spent our first full year in our home, held the 12th and White Vintage Sale and changed up decor for the seasons. Each year I like to share the top five posts of the year, so here goes...
5. A New Milk Paint Buffet
I was lucky enough to have the talented Abbe of All Dolled Up do a custom buffet for our dining space with Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint. Not only that, but my photos of the piece were featured in the first MMSMP Look Book, which was such an honor!
I still absolutely love this piece and how it fits into our home!
4. 2014 Holiday Housewalk
You just can't go wrong with Christmas decor! Everyone loves it and this year was no exception! Our house was glowing with twinkly lights, lots of greenery and gold and silver decor all season long!
3. Fall Living and Dining Room
Autumn brought cozy touches, warm tones and lots of nature-inspired decor to the Browning abode.
2. Makeover Round Up: Our House Six Months Later
I shared the progress we made after six months in our home, complete with before and afters of each space we had worked on. I'm hoping for even more makeovers to share in 2015!
1. How to Create an Elegant Home on a Budget: 7 Tips and Tricks
This post has 50 times the views of any other post on the blog...that still blows me away! : ) I'm so glad my personal experience with budget decorating is helpful to you guys. I always joke that at least others benefit from my mild (or maybe not-so-mild) obsession with decor, furnishings and finding the absolute best price!
Thank you again for following along this year! I am feeling a pull away from doing quite as much blogging as I used to. I think after four years, I'm needing to step back just a bit. As much as I absolutely love it, it's also a lot of work and time to maintain a blog. I'll probably pop in from time to time, but I bet you'll find me much more often on Instagram...I'd love to have you join me!
Sunday, December 7, 2014
Hello friends! Welcome to the 2014 Holiday Housewalk! I have participated in Jennifer Rizzo's amazing Christmas tour of homes for four years now and it just keeps getting better.
We'll start off in our hearth room, which is so cozy because of our fireplace.
This is year I wanted to add in some pops of gold. I spray painted magnolia leaves with gold spray paint, and added a few other glitzy touches among the other natural/neutral decor.
I love this print from Lindsay Letters (from Hobby Lobby).
The amaryllis in the urns are from World Market and I was so thrilled to find them. Usually good faux plants are so expensive, and these were perfect.
Isn't this Christmas card tree so fun? I found it at a local boutique and it will be perfect for holding all the holiday cards as they come in. (UPDATE: I get soooo many questions on this card holder. I found it here for you!)
I added a simple pine garland over the doorway that leads into our kitchen. It makes both rooms so cheery.
The other side of the room was kept extremely simple with just a few touches of greenery.
Let's head into the kitchen...
Here I also kept things simple, with red striped ribbon swagged across the window, a boxwood wreath and a few potter paperwhite bulbs.
The red ribbon is also from World Market and reminded me so much of a striped grain sack.
The counter top got my favorite wire sleigh and some gold and silver touches.
These faux paperwhites are also from World Market and are gorgeous as well!
My mom made our stockings for me the first year I was married. They're sewn from drop cloths.
A friend had shared this gold ikat gift wrap on Instagram and I just had to find some. You don't want to know how many times I went to TJ Maxx until I found some : )
This fun little print is really a coaster I stuck in a frame.
Next up... the living room
I apologize about the quality of these next photos. I only had one day to take them and it happened to be totally dark and dreary so the quality isn't the best. That being said, it's still my favorite room in the house!
I stuck with greens and lots of mercury glass in this room, since it's already filled with neutral and silver accents.
My trophy collection got a few sprigs of greenery and some white poinsettias.
One of my favorite places to decorate are the shelves in this room. I love to keep them simple but interesting with different textures. I used mostly what I had but added in some special festive touches.
I found this nativity scene at a local boutique recently, and I absolutely love it!
In our dining room, I added just a bit of sparkle, and probably crammed as many wreaths as humanly possible into a space : )
I will hopefully get a better shot of the tree later this week when the light is better. It includes lots of mercury glass, white poinsettias and black herringbone ribbon.
Just off our dining room, my favorite church pew got a few white poinsettias and a framed vintage Christmas tree print swapped out in the gallery.
Our buffet feels so cheery and bright.
Happy vintage Santa mugs are so festive!
Thank you so much for coming by! Merry Christmas!
