May Day

I still remember sneaking over to our neighbors' houses on May Day, slipping a bouquet of posies over their door handle, ringing the bell and running away as quickly as possible. My sister and I would hide and try to peek as they opened their door to find the flowers awaiting them. It was so much fun to make a little spring gift for our neighbors, even though my mom probably did most of the work : )

The possibilities are endless for containers you could use for May Day bouquets. Mason jars, small gathering baskets, burlap, linen or paper cones all fit the bill.

I think I might need to make a little posy for our own door this year : )

Do you celebrate May Day? What did you gift your neighbors with this spring?

  2. I used to celebrate May Day with my sister, too, and, just yesterday, I was reminiscing about how fun it was to bless our neighbors with flowers!
It was lovely to meet you at the Red Barn Market on Saturday, and I can't wait to make it to your corner at the Cottage Collective and spend some monies. ;-)

  4. When my daughter and son were very young, we lived in a small neighborhood with many senior citizens as neighbors. We had a large wild flower garden, compliments of the previous owners. I'd make white paper cones and the kids loved to fill them with flowers, hang them on the neighbors' doors, ring the doorbell and RUN to hide!
