A Patriotic Hodgepodge

Oh friends! Happy 4th of July to all! I wish I had some gorgeous flag-y vignette to show you, but instead I'm afraid all I've been able to scrape up is a hodgepodge of little red-white-and-blue things mixed with random snapshots and projects. So sorry! But I'm itching to blog so to satisfy my craving you'll just have to put up with my awkward mix today. Here goes...

Happiness is a $1 project. Went to JoAnn's Fabrics the other day and found these adorable mini chalk boards at 3 for $1. Oh the projects I can use these cute little things in! I snipped off the ugly gold string and hot glued on some jute. Currently this one is hanging on my laundry closet door just for fun. I have some other, more creative things up my sleeve for these puppies but you'll just have to wait and see!

Oh and while I was chalkboarding away, I found a fun way to use my number votive holders. I think the chalk looks cute in them.

And just because it's the fourth, I threw in some flag cupcake picks. I told you...random patriotism...

Here's the closest thing I can give you to Independence Day vignettes. My fave little plastic tray-turned chalkboard decked out festively. Plus the space behind my kitchen sink which is always decorated seasonally. The sparkly stars are from the Target Dollar Bin, the number is from the flea market. The tacky star wreath is from the Target Dollar Bin, and the fun flag on a stick is from the boutique across the street from my house, Country Bumpkins. Not the chicest thing ever, but hey, I'm on a budget!

You've already seen this photo but it's still my fave.

Last Thursday we went to see my favorite fireworks display at Bradley Fair. Too fun! (Please notice my shirt...just got it and I'm in LOVE with it and had to show it off ; )

Ummm...fruit is all-American, right?! There were blackberries growing over the sidewalk when I went for a walk around my neighborhood the other night and I snapped a few pictures. Actually I took a ton of pictures of the neighborhood to blog about, but looking back I think they would make for a post even worse and more boring than this one, so this is all you get!

My little firecracker cupcakes I made for my guest post on Meg's blog. Go read it if you haven't yet!

Nothing says Americana like a little fishing. Actually it was an all-American fun evening with the Browning clan last night as we went to Matt's aunt and uncle's cabin in Arlington. The cabin is *amazing* and I'm regretting not taking pictures for you. It started out as a teeny tiny shed with a sink, toilet and fireplace, and they gutted it and started over. Now it's an amazing rural escape with wood beams, a giant open living room with hardwood floors, a huge screened in porch and massive deck overlooking this great pond. It was a fun night full of fishing, exploring, friends, food, grilling out, fireworks, playing catch and everything else all-American. Bliss!

Well that's all for now friends. I hope you have a wonderful fourth of July! God bless the USA!

{live beautifully}
